Bangkok Bar

+++--

Barely legal Thai club for listening to pop music and guzzling cocktails.

Baghdad Cafe

-----

Over the Khlong Banglamphu. Small bar for puffing pungent fruit tobacco on Arabic water pipes and chatting about distant lands. Diverging from the Arabic tradition, alcohol is sold right alongside.

Lulu Bar

-----

Off-campus hang-out of a rotating cast of Silpakorn students has been transformed into a makeshift bar. Hardly anybody who isn't a friend bothers to frequent this bar. Food is great, beers are cold and the soundtrack plays such classics as the Beatles and the Cure.

Th Phra Athit

-----

This street has a stretch of charming wooden shophouses which have been converted into stylish bars and cafes, frequented by and popular with Thai university students and artsy types. The bars have a definite bohemian flavor and usually host a solo singer and a guitar while patrons sip their whisky. Pick one which seems right for you.

Dong Dea Moon

-----

Close to Th Khao San. Mello, open-air lounge.

Molly Bar

-----

Close to Th Khao San. More mello scene than Th Khao San. People can reasonably converse at this open-air lounge.

Th Khao San

-----

One big street that is a multi-cultural party with every outlet imaginable for socialising, eating, buying things, drinking and people-watching. You will see backpackers, tourists, thai tgeenagers and even moneyed Thais have joined this once, backpacker only scene. You can grab a frontrow seat at one of Th Khao San's streeet-facing bars or enjoy the air-con comfort at Gulliver's Taveller's Tavern. Very high energy!!
