B-Hotel: Entrance
Combining high-tech innovation with a minimalist style and a good use of natural light, the 84-room B-Hotel, which opened in spring 2005, plays to the modern-day, avant-garde vibe becoming more common on the Barcelona hotel scene. Designed by Alfredo Arribas, a well-established Barcelona architect whose long list of local and international projects includes the Moll d'Espanya shopping center in downtown's Port Vell and the childhood learning center at the city's Museum of Science, the B features a rooftop pool and terrace; a solarium; a lounge; soundproof, climate-control rooms; satellite and LCD-screen TV, and broadband and wireless internet access.

The three-star hotel's location in Plaça d'Espanya makes it a good jumping off point for visiting Montjuïc, the Magic Fountain, Caixa Forum, MNAC (Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya), and neighborhood markets, boutiques and restaurants. Metro and bus lines running to city center, airport buses and the main Sants train station are also in walking distance.

A double room runs about 100€ to 300€, depending as much on the season as what conference is town. (Being a stone's throw from the Fira de Barcelona and the Palau de Congressos conference center sites means demand among the business traveler set is pretty high, so reservations are advised). Throw in another 13€ for a filling breakfast of baked goods, freeze-squeezed juices and gourmet pastries.
