     Hostal Goya: Common area
Fresh, bright, comfortable, homey. Any of those words would be a good way to describe Hostal Goya.
A recent face-lift gives the boutique-style pension a more elegant feel than what you would expect from its official one-star rating. Many of the 19 rooms, decorated with subdued earth tones and offset with dark accents and modern floral patterns, come with ensuite bathrooms, and some have small balconies. Twelve rooms, based on the bed configurations, cater to individuals, couples and two single people traveling together. The seven principal rooms are bigger and have more of a suite set-up.
Although there are no TVs in the rooms, which are spread over two floors and include central heating and AC, there is a common room where you can gather around to catch the latest soccer match. The TV room is also where you'll find Internet, fax and Wi-fi services or where you can grab a cup of tea or coffee. The hostal also boosts having an elevator (not often found in neighborhood buildings that date back to the late 1800s), baby facilities and left-luggage services.
It's located in the Eixample Dreta neighborhood, a couple blocks from Plaça Catalunya, the snazzy shops lining Passeig de Gràcia and public transportation. The base rate for a single starts at 65€ per night, and doubles run from 90€ to 105€. When special conferences are in town, you'll have to tag on an additional 10€ or 20€, depending on the room. Reservations are recommended.
